Sweet and Savory Bacon Fried Rice

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of cooked rice
  • 100g of bacon, chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of maple syrup
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup of cream
  • 1/4 cup of mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 cup of breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup of sour cream
  • 4 slices of bread, cubed

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Stove Top
  • Oven
  • Blender

Instructions:

  • In a large pan over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside, leaving the bacon fat in the pan.
  • In the same pan, add diced onion and minced garlic; sauté until softened.
  • Push the onions and garlic to one side of the pan, crack in the eggs and scramble until cooked.
  • Stir in the cooked rice, soy sauce, and maple syrup, mixing everything well.
  • Add the crispy bacon back into the pan, and season with brown sugar, stirring until combined.
  • In a bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and breadcrumbs. Set aside.
  • In a separate bowl, mix cream and mayonnaise until smooth. Gradually stir in the sour cream.
  • On a baking sheet, spread the cubed bread and drizzle with the cream mixture. Bake in the oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
  • Serve the bacon fried rice topped with the baked bread cubes.
